Organizations and individuals who request verification of a genetic counselor´s CGC® status are required to pay a $35 administration fee (checks made out to ABGC). (There is no charge to Diplomates in good standing with ABGC) Requests must be made in writing. The administration fee and genetic counselor´s full name must be included in the request. Verification of certification is confirmed only in writing and not until payment is received. Verification information consists of whether or not the genetic counselor is certified and if so, the year of certification. Confidential information that will not be released includes the names of active candidates, names of genetic counselors who fail the examination and individual test scores.
Requests from ABGC Certified Genetic Counselors
Genetic counselors can request written verification of their certification status by submitting a request to the ABGC Administrative Office. As a benefit of the Certification Maintenance Fee effective 1/1/2009, there is no charge to diplomates in good standing for this service. If a diplomate is not in good standing, there is a $35.00 fee.
