Call for Nominations for 2024 ABGC Board of Directors

Are you, or is someone you know, a genetic counselor who is ready to take on a leadership position that ‎directly impacts our profession? ‎ABGC is seeking an individual to fill one open spot on the 2024 ABGC Board of Directors.

Nomination Criteria

  • Nominees must be board certified for a minimum of five (5) years. ‎
  • Leadership experience in the profession or leadership ‎contributions in other venues or communities.
  • Experience in the management or supervision of an individual or ‎team of GC professionals
  • Change agent who will critically think about issues/processes and promote improved organizational ‎effectiveness of ABGC ‎
  • Strong and diplomatic communicator who can speak to all audiences effectively
  • Innovative thinker who is able to analyze an issue from multiple viewpoints
  • Dedication to the advancement of the genetic counseling profession

Experience with strategic initiatives, leading teams, and/or ‎innovative contributions to the genetic counseling profession are also preferred. ‎

How to Submit a Nomination

Nominations for the ABGC Board of Directors can be submitted in two ways: as a self nomination or by nominating a colleague or peer.

Self nominations are requested by June 27, 2023 and must include the Board Nomination Application Form and a copy of your updated curriculum vitae ‎‎(CV)

For colleague or peer nominations, please submit his/her/their name ‎by June 14, 2023 by completing the Nominee Recommendation form. The Executive Office will contact those nominees to confirm ‎their interest ‎in serving on the Board and give them time to complete and submit the Personal Statement ‎‎Form.

A slate of candidates will be chosen by the Nominating Committee to present to Diplomates for election. ‎The election will take place in August 2023 for the open position with a four-year term to begin January 1, 2024.‎
