CEC Update: A Productive Year in 2025

The Certification Exam Committee (CEC) has had an exceptionally active and impactful year in 2025. In addition to our core responsibility of developing and reviewing exam forms, the committee has taken on several new initiatives aimed at enhancing the candidate experience and strengthening the integrity of the exam process.

One of our ongoing efforts this year was the thorough review of flagged exam questions — whether due to statistical anomalies or candidate feedback. This process ensures that every exam item meets our rigorous standards and reflects the most current and relevant knowledge in the field.

We also proudly launched our 2025 item writing campaign, welcoming 18 item writers to the team. Many of these contributors are new to the process, bringing fresh energy, diverse perspectives and specialized expertise. Their enthusiasm has already made a noticeable impact, and we’re excited to see how their contributions shape future exam content.

Another major undertaking was the re-referencing of exam items to align with the updated resource list. This initiative was designed to streamline the study experience for candidates by providing a more concise and targeted list of references. The result is a cleaner, more focused set of materials that better supports exam preparation.

Perhaps most exciting, a dedicated task force of CEC members have worked hard at developing a brand-new exam study guide. This resource was designed to help candidates navigate the exam process with greater confidence and clarity. We’re thrilled to that this resource is now available.

Finally, we’re delighted to introduce Dawn Nixon as the incoming CEC vice chair for 2026. Dawn brings over 20 years of experience as a GC and has served as both an item writer and CEC member for the past two years. Her leadership, insight and commitment to excellence make her an outstanding choice for this role. Please join us in welcoming Dawn!

As we look ahead to 2026, the CEC remains committed to continuous improvement and innovation. Thank you to all our members and contributors for your hard work and dedication.
