Implementing the Strategic Plan — Message From the President and Executive Director

Dear Diplomates,

As summer approaches, we hope your calendar is filling with activities that bring you joy.

Over the past few months, the ABGC Board of Directors has begun implementing our 2025-2027 Strategic Plan. A key initiative coming up this summer is the release of the exam candidate demographic report. This report includes data from candidates who sat for the August 2024 and February 2025 exams. While it will take several exam cycles to assess whether demographic factors influence pass rates, this data collection marks an important step toward identifying potential barriers to certification — an effort aligned with our strategic goals.

As highlighted in the recent president’s message, ABGC has always been committed to maintaining the highest standards with certification process. Exploring recent pass rates in a way that is both data-driven and compassionate is essential.

Beginning in June of 2024, the Exam Performance Taskforce has been analyzing exam data to better understand current pass rates. Their findings will be shared in a report later this summer. We are also developing a study guide to support exam candidates. The Certification Exam Committee has formed a Study Guide Taskforce, which is gathering input from Diplomates and candidates on what resources would be most helpful. They are also reviewing study guides from other professions to inform our approach. We anticipate releasing this free resource in the fall.

In the meantime, we encourage you to continue promoting existing tools such as the exam outline, practice exam and our study tips article series to support candidates. If you would like to participate in developing this article series, please fill out this interest form. We are additionally always seeking CGCs to be featured in our ABGC Spotlight series. Recommend yourself or others through this form.

ABGC’s work is driven by a dedicated Board of Directors and passionate committee volunteers who believe in the value of the CGC credential. If you’re interested in contributing to this important work, we invite you to apply when committee applications open in early fall of this year.

ABGC understands that the community is eager to hear updates, and we will continue to keep you informed.

Warm regards,

Priyanka Ahimaz, MS, CGC

ABGC Board President
